Agenda “Pendidikan untuk Semua” benar-benar membungakan harapan buat semua kanak-kanak. Terlebih khusus anak-anak tidak bernegara. Dalam dokumentari bertajuk “Tagupi Membaca: Harapan Anak-Anak Tidak Bernegara”, Peldalin Md. Nasip berkongsi impian emasnya.

We refer to the MalayMail article dated 5 January 2020. Sugar dating, where one exchanges love and affection for money clearly only brings harm rather than good. It is bewildering how anyone could think that this is a good idea. Not only does it degrade the honorable status of women in society, it also promotes adultery and prostitution, and exposes young girls (and young boys) to online predators. It creates ‘open season’ for sexual offenders and adults carrying sexually transmitted diseases who could be amongst the app users. Not to mention that there are numerous cases documented involving online scammers which have affected women financially and the culprits have yet to be captured. The possibilities are endless, from online grooming to encountering risks of sexual abuse and rape
Read MoreGeorge Washington Carver once said,‘education is the key to unlocking the golden door of freedom’. In many places around the globe, however, children are denied their right to education due to reasons such as unaffordability, living in crises such as wars, natural disasters and epidemics plus inability to meet certain requirements to enrol into the school system. These barriers exclude 263 million young people from school and deny them the chance to reach their full potential. Exclusion from school will fuel intergenerational cycles of poverty and disadvantage including socio-economic exploitation and violation of freedom and dignity. Education as a fundamental right is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and many other international human rights i...
Read MoreThere is no doubt that the crime of a boy being sodomised by a father he highlighted is shocking and requires intervention which is much overdue. We welcome education on reproductive biology, sexually transmitted infections (STI) and how to recognise safe and unsafe touch. However, we completely disagree on using the Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) syllabus as promoted by the International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF) - not just because of the questionable origin and philosophy of CSE and the IPPF - but also because the ‘rights-based’ or rather what should be called the ‘desire-based approach’ to sex education will not yield a successful outcome. The basic problem with comprehensive sex education is its amoral and relativistic approach, which separates human sexuality...
Read MoreFOREIGN Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah’s announcement on March 4 that Malaysia has acceded to the Rome Statute has ignited an uproar about its effects on sovereignty and royal immunity. The International Criminal Court is an international institution created out of the Rome Statute, a treaty established in 2002 to create a permanent international tribunal to try war crimes. The crimes described in the statute are brutal in nature and capable of being committed only by a leader or a command structure of any given state. We, working in non-governmental organisations, such as Centre for Human Rights Advocacy (Centhra), itself a member of Malaysian Alliance of Civil Society Organisations in the Universal Periodic Review Process (Macsa), deal with humanitarian and human rights issue...

The Centre for Human Rights Research and Advocacy (Centhra) warmly welcomes and strongly supports the statement of the Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed in condemning the actions of Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi in downplaying the massacre of the Rohingya people as defending the indefensible. Indeed, Aung San Suu Kyi’s transformation from democracy icon to international pariah began with the same unjustifiable behaviour and is now all but complete following her recent yet utterly deplorable attempt at justifying the jailing of two international journalists by her regime last month. The regime she leads is now far from a respectable member of the international community of civilised nations as a result. Consequently, we are elated to hear that the international human ri...

Reference is made to our recent statement of 26 October 2018 titled No Rush to Ratify Treaties. We refer also to the statement of the Malaysian Alliance of Civil Society Organisations in the UPR Process (MACSA), of which we are a part, which in turn is dated 7 August 2018 styled MACSA Welcomes Strengthening of Anti-Hate Laws. We remain firm on our view expressed in the former statement that any decision to ratify international human rights treaties, in particular the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD), must be undertaken with utmost care and strive to strike the right balance between boldness and circumspection by first being preceded by rigorous study and evaluation. However in the context of the ongoing debate on the ICERD, ...

Two of my children are huffaz, which means that they have completed memorization of the entire Qur’an and one is in progress of memorization. My three youngest children are being trained in Raudhatul Huffaz, a non-governmental tahfiz and tuition organization I founded in 2014. We aim to inspire children to achieve high standards, emulating the intellectual gian...
